Fly Fishing Outfitters proudly supports both local and national charities and non-profits. We donate time, resources, and a percentage of our profits every year to Hooked on a Cure (St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital), Casting for Recovery and Reel Recovery. We also donate numerous guided fishing trips to local organizations for fundraisers. It is a priority for us to contribute to and create awareness for these great organizations.
We here at Fly Fishing Outfitters feel very fortunate to make a living doing something we love, in return we believe it’s important to give back to the environment and community that helps support us and the sport we love. Listed below are some organizations that continue to give back through fly fishing, we are proud to be affiliated with these organizations and others like them.
Official Member of Trout Unlimited
Your home waters need your attention – and not just to spot rising fish. Across the country, Trout Unlimited is the most active and effective force for healthy rivers and streams. Fly Fishing Outfitters is proud to be recognized as part of TU’s Outfitter and Guide program, helping to protect Colorado’s most valuable resource – WATER. In the words of Montana guide and outfitter Paul Roos, Orvis’ first ever Guide Conservationist of the year, “No organization is more relevant to those involved with coldwater fisheries than Trout Unlimited.
Casting for Recovery
Casting for Recovery is a national non-profit support and educational program for women who have or have had breast cancer. CFR provides an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting to learn fly fishing. For more information check out: www.castingforrecovery.org.
Reel Recovery is also a national non-profit organization for men recovering from life threatening cancer. Reel Recovery’s mission is to help men in the cancer recovery process by introducing them to the healing powers of the sport of fly fishing, while providing a safe, supportive environment to explore their personal experiences. Guide Paul Zimmerman became involved with a retreat in 2006 which “changed his life”. Each year along with Paul, FFO will send 6 guides to volunteer their time at their Colorado retreat. Hooked on a Cure
Hooked on a Cure is a unique event, raising money for St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, and is the result of a single idea with a purpose by April Conrad. Over a period of time with a lot of planning, hard work and help from many volunteers, April’s dream to save a child “one cast at a time” became a reality. Hooked on a Cure is a non-competitive, celebrity fishing event, bringing anglers, guides and premier anglers together for three days to benefit St. Judes. Fly Fishing Outfitters is honored to have hosted and been the guide service for this event in both 2006 & 2007.
